Early this morning, Texas officers took him into custody after his vehicle nearly veered off the shoulder, their warrant states.
According to KENS5 Eyewitness News, former Nashville Star finalist Gabe Garcia was charged with one count of Driving While Intoxicated or DWI.
The news outlet states that Garcia was accused of drunk driving after a San Antonio officer stopped him for speeding and after watching his car veer to the left and nearly cross the shoulder.
The warrant also states that Garcia's account of the number of drinks he had consumed changed later, and he first stated that he had six drinks, later reducing that number to two.
He is charged with a misdemeanor offense of DWI and is scheduled to see a judge today.
Garcia has been heavily involved with country music for most of his life and his website states that he shared a manager with George Strait following his appearance on the hit country singing competition and also worked as a songwriter for Big & Rich's John Rich.
Currently, he is working between Texas and Nashville, signed to his own label.
