Every October, yards across the country are filled with pink ribbon signs, and not just for decoration. The pink ribbon is the symbol for breast cancer awareness, and people proudly display these ribbons each October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. writes that Breast Cancer Awareness Month “is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.” Many movie stars, athletes, and other celebrities join the fight each October, and country stars are no exception.
One country singer who holds the cause of breast cancer awareness close to his heart is Drew Baldridge. After the release of his second single, “Rebound,” earlier in October, Baldridge is poised to have the next big country hit. The song has already generated millions of streams, expanding Baldridge’s fan base rapidly.
Now, Baldridge is calling on that fan base to help him raise awareness about breast cancer. On October 5, Balridge shared a post on Facebook revealing that he made “Rebound from Cancer” shirts as part of a month-long campaign.
Baldridge spoke with Country Rebel about the campaign, saying that this cause is one he is deeply passionate about. “My grandma got diagnosed with cancer a year and a half ago so this is a topic that really touches my heart,” he said.
The shirts are a bright pink color, with a breast cancer ribbon and the words “Rebound from Cancer” printed on the front. Baldridge’s logo appears on one sleeve, while the logo of his sponsor, Super 8, appears on the other.
Baldridge said that 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts will go to the TJ Martell Foundation. As described on its website, the foundation is “the music industry’s largest foundation that funds innovative medical research focused on finding cures for leukemia, cancer, and AIDS.“
