In an emotional and tear-jerking performance, this young country singer pours his heart and soul into a song he wrote about the tragic loss of his little boy.
Just moments after his wife gave birth to their first child, Whit, Beau Bogard says that a nurse approached him and said that the doctors would like to speak with him. It was that moment that would change his life forever.
"I ran out and pretty much proclaimed to everybody, 'He's here, he's here and Katie's doing great,'" Bogard told WLOX. "It was probably five or 10 minutes later when somebody tapped me on the shoulder and said a doctor wanted to speak with me. That's when we went back to the NICU and the doctor told me there was some issues with his heart."
As Bogard revealed in a statement to Country Rebel, the doctors informed him that the left side of his son's heart had failed unexpectedly.
"As I sat there distraught and confused, I watched highly professional NICU nurses, a perinatologist, and a neonatal pediatric cardiologist work on my son while trying to hide the tears that rolled down every one of their cheeks."
Although the doctors could not save his son, they gave the Bogard family a blessing in that they allowed the new parents to share several precious hours with their baby boy before he was taken to heaven.
It was from this heart-wrenching experience of loss and confusion that Bogard penned his song, "I Really Wanna Know".
After recording the track in Nashville during a professional session with the famed guitarist for Josh Turner and Clint Black, Bogard did the unthinkable! He pledged to donate every penny from the sale of his single to Memorial Hospitals NICU Foundation.
When Bogard uploaded a video of him singing his beautiful and emotional song to Facebook, it went viral, seeing more than 35,000 views almost instantly! If you've ever lost someone, especially a child or an infant, this song will speak volumes to your heart.
