Country singer Neal McCoy's father, Pete McGaughey, passed away Saturday morning (March 25). He was 86.
McCoy shared the news on Facebook saying, "He's in a much better place. We all know that as a family. So, we're okay with it. There will be sad times, I know. But, this morning he's already in a better place and feeling a lot better."
McCoy credits his father with instilling in him a positive attitude.
"The thing I got from my dad, growing up I never saw him in a bad mood," McCoy told the Chicago Tribune in 1999. "He never brought work home with him and was always the same guy: the best personality in the world and always a real treat to be around.
"I think I patterned myself after him -- in that I want people to enjoy being around me, to like hanging out with me."
Our prayers are with Neal McCoy and his family during this difficult time.
