All eyes are on Texas as Hurricane Harvey continues to wreak havoc. Devastating flooding is costing many south Texas residents their work places, vehicles and homes.
In an effort to help with relief efforts, country star Chris Young has pledged $100,000 to victims of Hurricane Harvey. In addition, he is asking for your help to raise $500,000 for the cause.
Young took to social media on Sunday to pledge his support, offer his help and encourage others to do the same.
“I have friends and family there,” Young says. “And I’m fairly positive my house down there may have to be torn down as it was in one of the hardest hit areas by wind and flooding.
“But that’s the least of my concern. I’m worried about the people there. Like I said, my friends, family, neighbors…and I want to help.”
“I’m pledging $100,000 directly to a GoFundMe account to benefit the Red Cross in an effort to help everyone in Texas that has been affected by this hurricane.
“In times like these, you turn to your friends to help those in need,” Young says at the end of the video. “And that’s exactly what I’m doing. I hope you’ll donate. And Texas, we love you.”
Young’s goal is to raise $500,000 in donations for disaster relief. All donations will go through the Chris Young Foundation directly to the Red Cross.
In the hours since Young’s call for help was posted to social media, nearly $30,000 has been added to his original donation of $100,000. If you would like to help Chris Young reach his fundraising goal and contribute to Hurricane Harvey disaster relief, click here.
