In a heartbreaking statement, the father who lost his 19-year-old son in a tragic boating accident more than a week ago, speaks out to address the events.

Craig Morgan, known for his chart-topping country hits like “Redneck Yacht Club” and “What I Love About Sundays” had his beloved son, Jerry Greer, taken from him in a flash during a boating accident on July 11th.

A recent high school graduate, Greer was headed for success at college and truly one of the most important parts of their family.

Taking to social media for the first time since the tragic loss of his son, Morgan speaks out to the public, addressing his fans, and opening up his heart.

“The loss of our son Jerry is the hardest thing we have ever had to endure as a family,” he writes. “Karen and I are so grateful for all of the wonderful people who have shown us unwavering support during this difficult time.”

Immediately following the news of his son’s death, the country music community banded together, sending their thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the family. Fans as well were incredibly supportive of the country star following the family’s unimaginable loss.

“There are too many to name here, but we are especially thankful for the Humphreys County Sheriff and Fire Departments, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, and all the additional agencies and volunteers who turned out to bring our son home.”

What Morgan and his family have suffered is something that nobody could even imagine, and a truly saddening moment for everyone.

He continued in the post thanking all of the music communities and venues who have been so incredibly understanding and supportive following several cancelled concert dates to allow the family time to grieve.
