Taking to his favorite social media site earlier this week, NASCAR‘s most-popular driver accidentally spilled the beans on his close friend and teammate’s new business venture – and he didn’t even realize it until he got called out!
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was acting earnestly and trying to help out his friend and drum up some excitement for that friend’s new business venture…the only problem is that the whole thing was supposed to be a secret.
The cat’s out of the bag now and Jimmie Johnson called out Dale Jr. on Twitter for leaking the information in advance of when they had planned on making an announcement, but still had some fun with it and definitely appreciated the assist from his buddy.
In a tweet on Monday afternoon, Dale Jr. told his 2.25 million followers about a new restaurant Johnson was opening up on September 12th – and even pointed them in the direction of the diner’s website.

The next day, Johnson caught wind of the unofficial announcement by his celebrity driver friend and clarified his own plans for an announcement, poking fun at Dale Jr. along the way.
Don’t say that too loud, we were going to wait to announce my involment until after it was up and running. Thankfully nobody follows you. 😁 https://t.co/MEyHBJtXiu

Johnson who has 2.24 million followers on Twitter himself, is set to open this new restaurant called SouthBound in Charlotte next week. Establishing itself as a taco, tequila, and Southern California street food eatery, the restaurant aims to “offer a destination getaway from the hustle and bustle of life in the Queen City.”
Realizing the faux pas he had made in a widely-public manner, Dale Jr. tweeted back an apology letting Johnson know he was just trying to help him out.
Doh!!! My intentions were good 😣 https://t.co/tTLcKVabTp
