In the tear-jerking interview, he explains exactly how this injury has affected him and the difficulty it caused for him.
Longstanding NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., revealed the first chapter in a series produced by his sponsor, Nationwide Insurance, that discusses his gripping journey back to the track.
The series, titled Unfinished Business, covers nearly every stopping point along the way, from the initial concussion and nearly-debilitating effects, to his physical and spatial rehab working with one of the best teams of doctors in the world.
The first video, called "Chapter 1: The Recovery", was unveiled on January 24th by the Nationwide 88 team and features one of his most in-depth interviews about his injury to-date.
"From the time I felt the injury and went through treatment [my emotions were] unclear," he explained. "At one point in the process, I couldn't walk heel-to-toe in a straight line...eyes open or closed. I couldn't take two steps without falling over."
The ordeal was definitely harrowing, and not something he would wish on his worst enemy, but with that being said - he's got his sights set on the future.
"A big motivation to get back in the car is the fans and their support throughout this process," He continued. "That drives you to be in the car, that people want you to be in there."
