‘Dancing’ Star Shocks Fans With News Of Engagement

Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte is engaged! The news comes as a shock to his fans as the swimmer was allegedly single when he competed in the Summer Olympics in Rio. 

But, according to Lochte, the moment he met Kayla Rae Reid at a Hollywood nightclub in January he knew that she was the one for him. 

“From the very first time I met her, everything has like clicked,’’ Lochte said of Reid. “That’s why I know I can propose to her because everything that’s happened and she’s been keeping me so positive. She doesn’t care about my fame. She doesn’t care about anything.

“All she cares about is me being happy.”

Lochte is currently competing on Dancing with the Stars, but took time away from rehearsals to pull off a surprise proposal for Reid. 

“Memories forever!!! #thelochtes #LA,” Ryan shared on Instagram Sunday evening along with a photo of his now-fiancee showing off a stunning diamond.

“Speechless. Absolutely beautiful.  So in love with YOU,” Kayla responded.

 The news comes as Lochte attempts to repair his reputation after a highly-publicized Rio Olympics scandal. 

“My family says, ‘Don’t you think it’s a little too soon?’ I’m like, ‘Can you put a time on love? Can you?'” Ryan shared with USA TODAY Sports. “When I realized this was ‘the one’ was when she stuck behind me through this. She still loves me and she’s still right there with me.”
