Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. may be one of the most adorable couples in NASCAR off the track, but all bets are off when they enter a race. During Sunday's race of the Monster Energy series at Sonoma Raceway, Patrick took out her fellow racer and longtime boyfriend after losing control of her vehicle.
Patrick (No.10) took out Stenhouse (No.17) after her car spun out while trying to take on one of the more difficult turns of Sonoma's track. While Patrick managed to recover and place 17th in the race, Stenhouse was unable to bounce back and ended up pulling out of the race to only complete 30 laps.
"Tell Ricky I'm sorry," Patrick said following the crash to NBC Sports' Dustin Long.
Even though Patrick and Stenhouse were hit with the most damage following the crash, NASCAR expert Jeff Gluck passes the bulk of the blame onto Kyle Larson and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
So it seems like Larson forced three-wide with Dale Jr. and Danica, resulting in Danica spin. Would you agree?— Jeff Gluck (@jeff_gluck) June 25, 2017
However, while she may have not caused her car to spin out, Patrick's inability to regain control is what caused her collision with Stenhouse. Following the Sonoma race, Patrick is ranked 28th in the Monster Energy series, with Stenhouse at 17th.
