The actress best known for playing Robert and Laura Petrie’s neighbor Millie Helper on The Dick Van Dyke Show has died. Ann Morgan Guilbert died Tuesday of cancer in Los Angeles at age 87.

Guilbert appeared in many shows over the course of her 40 year career, but her most popular and longest lasting role was of Laura Petrie’s best friend Millie on The Dick Van Dyke Show. The actress appeared in all five seasons of the sitcom.

Guilbert also appeared in The Andy Griffith Show, Seinfeld, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and The Nanny. Most recently, she appeared in two episodes of the CBS comedy Life in Pieces and an episode of Grey’s Anatomy

The star not only appeared on television, but also made a name for herself on Broadway in productions of The Matchmaker, Arsenic and Old Lace, and Harvey.

Guilbert leaves behind two daughters. Her second husband, Guy Raymond, died in 1997.
