August 16, 2016 should have been a joyous day for Dixie Chicks’ Emily Strayer. It was her 44th birthday and instead of celebrating, she mourned the passing of a family member.
Just minutes after thanking fans on Twitter for the birthday wishes, she shared a picture of her dog, Sebastian with the caption, “RIP our dear boy Sebastian. You are the best!”

Dogs become part of your family, and he’s been with Emily’s for quite some time. As animal lovers, we understand the pain of losing a pet and it’s not easy.
Emily is currently staying busy by touring the country with the Dixie Chicks for the first time in the US in ten years. Their next show is Wednesday night (Aug 17) in Nashville, followed by a couple shows in Florida. The DCX MMXVI World Tour continues until October 10.
Our thoughts are with Emily and her family. Watch them perform their hit “Landslide” below.
