Last Christmas, the only thing anyone was talking about was Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, the TV movie based on Parton’s childhood.
The movie was received so well, NBC decided to air it a second time. A total of 16 million viewers tuned in to watch the touching film, which became the most-watched movie on TV in almost seven years!
With those kind of results, it’s hard for executives to say no to a sequel when they have hard evidence that it will do well. In a press release, Parton announced the original cast would be coming back for the squeal, titled Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.
The press release reveals that the “sequel’s story will revolve around the holiday season, as the Parton family faces challenges when an unexpected blizzard hits. At the same time, Parton’s father Robert and his children go to the ends of the Earth in order to get [their mother] a special Christmas present…the wedding ring Robert could never afford to give her. While all of this is going on, someone starts to take notice of young Parton’s musical talent, and her life is forever changed because of it.”
While we know that it will be a Christmas story, the premiere date has not been announced. That all changed Tuesday (Aug 23) when Parton stopped by Fox & Friends to talk about her brand new album Pure & Simple.
She revealed that the movie will premiere on November 30 and we couldn’t be more excited! Watch her announcement below.
