Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’ Slowed To 33 RPM

Dolly Parton

Long before cassette tapes and compact disks there were vinyl records. While vinyl albums are still available, they have diminished in popularity as the convenience of digital downloads has taken over.

It’s a shame considering one of the most entertaining things about vinyl is the ability to slow them down or speed them up. If you’ve never done it, you’re missing out. An artist can go from chipmunk vocals to creepy bass with the flip of a switch. Unless you’re Dolly Parton

In a 2010 video that is making its rounds again, Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” is slowed to 33 RPM and the result is almost magical. Dolly’s voice is transformed into a sultry male voice that gives the song an entirely different vibe.
