A fiery wreck at the Go Bowling 400 NASCAR race in Kansas made for a frightening moment for fans and fellow drivers on Saturday (May 13).

The wreck happened with 60 laps to go on the Kansas Speedway when something happened with Joey Logano’s car causing it to hit Danica Patrick. Aric Almirola then struck Logano hard and became momentarily airborne.

Logano and Patrick climbed out of their cars on their own, but the top of Almirola’s car had to be cut off before he could be removed. NASCAR reports that Almirola was conscious and communicating with personnel, but was complaining of back pain.

Following the accident, Logano spoke to a reporter and expressed his sincere apologies for his car being the cause of the accident. He also made it clear that he was concerned for Almirola and took to Twitter to share that he was praying that Almirola is okay.
