Edna Perry, mother of Faith Hill, has died. Perry, 80, passed away on Sunday, October 30 at a Jackson, Mississippi, hospital. A private graveside service will be held for the family Tuesday (November 1).
Edna and her husband, Ted, adopted Faith when she was only a few days old, raising her and their two older sons in the tiny Mississippi town of Star.
In a 2006 interview, Larry King asked Faith about her “troubled childhood. Faith responded, “I actually had a pretty amazing childhood. I was adopted, if that’s what you’re referring to, but my family, my mom and my dad and my brothers, they are amazing.” She told Larry that she grew up in a “very stable, good Christian, God-fearing home.”
Edna always supported Faith’s love for music, encouraging her to sing at church and family events.
“How thankful I am that she was able to give me the opportunity that I had,” Faith said on Larry King Live. “I was placed into an incredible home that . . . is responsible for the way I am today and the backbone that I have in order to do this for a living.”
Edna is survived by Ted, her husband of 59 years, her sons, Wesley and Steve, daughter, Faith, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Our prayers are with Faith Hill and her family at this time.
