After a career lasting nearly 40 years, this beloved and cherished musician tragically passed away earlier today, September 1st, 2016.

Known for penning hits like Mickey Gilley’s “I’m The One Mama Warned You About”, and David Allan Coe‘s “Cold Turkey”, Kacey Jones truly made a name for herself in country music and moved to Nashville in 1986.

In addition to crafting both of those hits, Jones also chartered a career as a comedy musician singing songs similar to those issued by legendary performer, Ray Stevens, and later embarked on her own solo career with a record deal from Curb Records.

Many other artists have recorded songs from Jones such as Cledus T. Judd, Richard Fagan, Marshall Chapman, and, of course, Ray Stevens.

Jones also appeared on the famous variety show America’s Got Talent last year during an episode featuring Piers Morgan and sang her hilarious song “Every Man I Love Is Either Married, Gay, or Dead”, but did not make it into the finals.

Jones passed away after waging a three-year battle with cancer, and succumbed to the illness while in hospice care at a Nashville facility.

The entirety of country music mourns the loss of this great songwriter and musician. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.

Watch Kacey Jones’ hilarious song “Donald Trump’s Hair” in the video below.
