One of the greatest bluegrass musicians to ever grace the stage passed away Thursday (June 23). Ralph Stanley died at age 89 after a long battle with skin cancer.
The iconic banjo player and vocalist’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday (June 28) at the Hills of Home Park in Stanley’s home state of Virginia. The funeral arrangements were posted to Stanley’s official Facebook page with a special invitation for his fans to attend.
The Grammy Award-winning bluegrass icon is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Jimmie, children Lisa Stanley Marshall, Tonya Armes Stanley and Ralph Stanley II, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many fans around the world.
