In less than a month, Garth Brooks will release his 11th studio album. If his new single is any indication, the project is going to be everything we would expect a Garth album to be.
Thursday morning (October 13), "Baby, Let's Lay Down and Dance," his first single from the unnamed album. The song was written by Brooks, Kent Blazy, Steve Dorff, Victoria Shaw, and Kim Williams.
"Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance” was just a fun title that Kent Blazy has had in his book of titles forever, always threatening to write it. So, one day, Kim, Kent and I sat down and wrote it," Garth shared in a press release. "We got a little help from Steve Dorff, and then Victoria Shaw finished it. In the middle of this, Kim Williams passed away. I’ve got to tell you, I love love love this song, but probably my greatest joy is the fact that this is a Kim Williams song. Not only did it make this record, it’s the first single off this record.”
If Kim Williams' name sounds familiar it's because he was the mastermind behind some of Garth's biggest hits such as "Ain't Goin' Down ('Til The Sun Comes Up)," "She's Gonna Make It," and "Papa Loved Mama." He also penned hit singles for Reba McEntire, Clay Walker, Joe Diffie, and Randy Travis.
"Baby, Let's Lay Down and Dance" can be heard on radio stations across the country and is now available for download via access codes inside Fritos corn chips bags. The song will also appear on Brooks' new album whose title will be announced Saturday (October 15) during the SEC Game of the Week on CBS.
On November 11, a new Garth Brooks box set will be released and will include nine discs of previously released music along with some new songs. The 10th disc of the set will be an exclusive version of Garth's new album.
