A few short hours before country music royalty Loretta Lynn was set to take the stage of Carolina Theatre in Durham Friday (May 5), the singer was forced to cancel.

The nation was rocked by the news the living legend had suffered a serious stroke that resulted in the cancellation of all her upcoming shows. Many country singers reaching out to her via social media, including Garth Brooks

Kicking off his regularly scheduled video series, Inside Studio G, Brooks shared an emotional message for the singer who paved the way for so many artists in the genre. 

“The Queen of queens, Loretta Lynn. Please know, our love is with you, our strength is with you, and our money is on you,” shared an emotional Brooks. “I know you’re already running the place there in ICU. All of our love and all of our strength is with you. There’s a lot of flowers waiting and a lot of love waiting for when you get out of there. Get out there soon, honey. Get back to playing music. We miss you already. I love you very, very much.”

The 85-year-old singer was admitted to a Nashville hospital after suffering a stroke May 4 at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. While her representatives have offered limited information regarding the state of her health, the singer is “responsive and expected to make a full recovery.”
