On what would have been her late husband’s 86th birthday, the widow of a country legend is heading into the operation room for a very important procedure to save the sight in one of her eyes.

Revealed on George Jones‘ official Facebook page alongside a beautiful photo of his gravesite adorned in flowers, the team asked fans for prayers for his widow during her time of need.

According to the post, Nancy will be undergoing surgery that is expected to fix the blindness in her left eye. Many may not have known she was dealing with blindness in one eye, and it’s likely she kept her health battle very private.

“Please keep Nancy in your prayers today as she undergoes eye surgery to restore sight in her left eye,” the post begins. “Although she will not be able to visit the gravesite today she was able to have the fall flowers done a day early and encourages everyone to visit.”

While it’s only been four short years since his passing, Nancy has been working to keep Jones’ legacy alive through various efforts and ventures, including the beloved George Jones Museum in Nashville and has celebrated his life through his music.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy Jones as she undergoes surgery today and we wish her a very speedy recovery!
