‘How Great Thou Art’ Gets A Cappella Remake By Home Free

What do you get when you put together a 100-year-old hymn, the beauty of the Swiss Alps, and some of country music’s most talented vocalists? You get a powerful music video that will stir your soul like never before.

While on tour in Austria, Home Free vocal band took the opportunity to film a video for their take of ‘How Great Thou Art’ using the local scenery as a backdrop. With the help of members of their video production team and a local drone operator, the group took the popular Christian hymn to a new level…literally.

The video draws you in immediately with its opening scene taken by a low-flying drone gliding through a valley in the Swiss Alps. Bass vocalist Tim Foust begins to sing the melody as the rest of the group sings soft, haunting background vocals. Tenor Rob Lundquist takes over the melody during the second verse before Austin Brown takes over the lead for the song’s dramatic final verse.

Home Free’s stunning arrangement of ‘How Great Thou Art’ can be credited to longtime collaborator Darren Rust who earlier this year produced the group’s recording of the song. The vocals were amazing on their own, but the extraordinary video footage made the tune more powerful than ever.
