Since 1984, people have been cutting loose to the songs from the soundtrack of the movie Footloose. While the soundtrack had a rock and roll theme, it was something that fans of all genres found themselves enjoying.
Today, many of the songs on the Footloose soundtrack remain popular. Just take "Holding Out for a Hero" or "Let's Hear it for the Boy" as examples.
Country fans had a good initial reason to feel a draw to Footloose. Even though the soundtrack skewed toward rock, the film was set in a rural area, and focused on themes and characters one would typically associate with "country" or small town living.
Footloose was given an extra bit of country flair when it was remade in 2011. The new soundtrack had a much stronger country influence, with Blake Shelton singing the movie's theme "Footloose."
