Just a month following an accident that hospitalized her 8-year-old daughter for more than two days, the country music singer and younger sister of pop princess Britney Spears has revealed her decision about continuing a career in music.
The 26-year-old singer and former television actress recently quit working on her music career following an ATV accident that occurred on her family’s land in Mississippi.
The accident, which nearly claimed the life of Jamie Lynn Spears‘ daughter, Maddie, happened on February 5th, 2017 while Maddie was riding the ATV and lost control, the vehicle flipping over and landing upside down in a pond, submerging the child in water for at least 2 minutes.
In the time since, Spears has kept friends and fans updated on Maddie’s recovery, even sharing some sweet photos of her getting approval from doctors to visit her school to pass out Valentine’s Day treats.
With a very scary incident like that and the affect it’s had on both herself and her family, Spears took a break from working and focused solely on her baby girl’s recovery. In a new post to social media, Spears opens up about the recent months in a deep way.
“Time doesn’t matter, and seems to blur together when you’re waiting for your daughter to wake up,” She wrote about the accident. “…and a day could be a week, and you wouldn’t notice, because you’re fighting for what you love. For obvious reasons, I put everything with my work life on hold, till I knew my little girl was more then okay.”
But now, she has revealed that she’s made a decision about her career and whether or not to continue it following the accident.
“Now, more then ever, I realize how important it is to only put your time into things that matter, and I can’t wait to get back to my music. Now, that my baby girl is better- I can’t wait to make her proud. She is my everything. I want to thank you all for your patience, and prayers as we worked through this hard time.Music to come.”
It’s such a relief to hear that Maddie is doing so well that her mom feels comfortable getting back into doing what she loves. Throughout the short time she’s been in the country music spotlight, Spears has made great strides and even earned a Top 10 hit as a songwriter with Jana Kramer’s “I Got the Boy”.
