This has definitely been a year of highs and lows for country music singer Jana Kramer. From welcoming her first child Jolie Rae into the world, joining the cast of ABC's Dancing With the Stars, to separating from husband Michael Caussin, the 32 year old has undergone one roller coaster of a year.
On top of all that, Kramer has finally made the decision to reveal the haunting story of her first husband, Michael Gambino, who tried to kill her. Years after the horrifying incident, Kramer is sharing the details of her ex-husband's abuse in hopes of giving strength to all the women stuck in the cycle of abuse. A fan recently shared with Kramer that she found strength through her story, stopping her mid-song to thank her.
"I was playing a show two weeks ago and this girl gave me her phone and written in the notes section she'd written, 'You saved me.' And right away my eyes just started welling up. And she's like, 'Seriously, thank you, you saved me,'" Kramer shared in interview with Us. "I had to stop singing the song."
The fan drew strength through Kramer and her ability to not only get out from under the control of her abusive first husband (who committed suicide after spending five years in prison for the attempted murder of Kramer) as well as going on to live a successful life.
"I wanted to help people, and the fact that people are talking about it and spreading awareness means that it'll only help more people," she continued. "I've gotten a lot of confidence and I've realized my strength through all this, and what I have to give."
You can watch Kramer share the horrifying details of her past in the video below.
