When it was revealed that Julianne Hough would not be returning to the Dancing with the Stars ballroom as a judge this season, her fans couldn’t help but wonder if she had some sort of project in the works. The reason for this train of thought is because after judging seasons 19-21, Julianne refrained from season 22 so she could focus on other aspects of her career before returning for seasons 23-24.
Well it turns out that her fans’ thoughts were right on point. As revealed on Monday (September 25), Hough has been cast as an iconic fitness figure in an upcoming movie, titled Bigger.
Deadline was the first to report the news of Julianne’s casting. She will be playing Betty Weider, a former model and pin-up girl who eventually became known around the world as a physical fitness expert. Along with her husband Joe Weider, Betty co-founded Shape magazine, which is still one of the most popular fitness publications out there.
The film will focus on Joe and his brother Ben, and will follow the road they traveled to achieve success. It will focus on how they brought themselves out of poverty to later become fitness icons and the eventual founders of the famous Mt. Olympia bodybuilding competition.
According to Deadline, shooting for the film begins in October. Julianne seems to be the perfect person to play Betty, since she is also known for her devotion to fitness and has her own line of fitness wear. Her passion for healthy eating and exercise has landed her on the cover of Shape a total of four times!
