One of the biggest Independence Day celebrations in the country was missing one of it's star performers Tuesday night. American Idol alum and Dancing with the Stars champ Kellie Pickler was scheduled to take the stage for A Capitol Fourth live on PBS, but had to drop out after she suddenly became ill.
Pickler felt fine during her rehearsal the previous evening as she performed "Small Town Girl," a track from her debut album, and "This Land is Your Land." Thankfully PBS taped the rehearsal and aired it in place of a live performance when Pickler became too ill to perform at show time.
PBS posted the following disclaimer on social media about Kellie's absense.
"Unfortunately Kellie Pickler became ill earlier today and as much as she wanted to be here, her doctor advised against it, Kellie’s dress rehearsal last night was fantastic and we wanted to share it with you. Please note, after the video of her performance concludes, we will return to the live show and everything else you are watching tonight on A Capitol Fourth is being broadcast live. We know you’ll join us and wishing Kellie a speedy recovery."
Kellie Pickler and her team have yet to comment on her health. We wish Kellie a full and speedy recovery! Hear Kellie's rehearsal performance in the video below.
