In 2006, a bubbly country girl captured thousands of hearts when she auditioned for American Idol. That girl was Kellie Pickler, who ended up placing sixth on the show’s fifth season.
Since then, Pickler has gone on to become one of the most beloved artists in country music. She has seen several of her songs climb high on the charts, is the star of her own reality show on CMT, and just began hosting a new talk show.
Needless to say, Pickler is one busy gal! But there’s one thing Pickler is always willing to find time in her schedule for…American Idol.
After running for well over a decade, American Idol aired its 15th and final season in 2016, and it wrapped up in April of that year. Viewers were under the impression that the show was gone forever, but that was not the case.
A year after the the conclusion of the 15th season, it was revealed that ABC would be picking up American Idol for a reboot. So far, only pop star Katy Perry has been confirmed as a judge, though there have been rumors about other additions.
During an interview with People, Pickler revealed that she “would love” to return to the show, “if an opportunity comes along” for her to go back. Does that mean that she would be willing to take on the role as a judge if it was offered to her?
There is one thing that Pickler made clear in her interview. She is extremely thankful for everything the show did for her. “It forever changed my life, and I will always be grateful to have been a part of the show,” she said.
Whether she comes back to the show as a judge, performer, or simply an audience member, we think Pickler would be a great addition to the American Idol reboot! How about you?
Tune in below to see where Pickler started her American Idol journey by watching her audition footage. She has come a long way since then!
