When one of country music’s biggest rising stars lends her vocals to one of the most popular Christian hymns of all time, the result can only be magical.

In a video shared to social media, Kelsea Ballerini is joined by three backup singers to performa  stunning a cappella cover of ‘Amazing Grace.’ Ballerini’s flawless vocals paired with dynamic acoustics give the tune an almost haunting quality that will make even the toughest of listeners fight back emotion.

Published in the late 18th century, ‘Amazing Grace’ is arguably the most recognizable hymn ever written. Penned by John Newton, the song offers a message of forgiveness and redemption that speaks to the heart of any listener.

Kelsea Ballerini isn’t the first, and won’t be the last, country artist to cover ‘Amazing Grace.’ In 2013, Alan Jackson recorded the song for his album Precious Memories Volume II.

More recently, country legend Randy Travis delivered a highly emotional performance of “Amazing Grace” during his Country Music Hall of Fame induction. Travis brought the entire crowd to tears as he began to sing the well-known lyrics to the song that became his anthem after his debilitating stroke in 2013.

“Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now I’m found.
Was blind but now I see.”

We dare say that Kelsea Ballerini’s stripped down, no-frills, a cappella cover of “Amazing Grace” will go down in history as one of the best, alongside Alan Jackson and Randy Travis.

Listen to Kelsea sing the age-old hymn below.

how sweet the sound.
