Saturday night, Kenny Chesney was performing at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when he shocked the audience with tragic news. He told the crowd that Folcroft Borough Police Officer Christopher Dorman, who had been shot seven times in the line of duty, had died.
The 25-year old officer had planned to attend Chesney’s concert but instead was hospitalized as he recovered from his gunshot wounds.
The Folcroft Police Department took to Facebook to correct Chesney’s announcement.
The message made its way to Chesney who called Dorman at the hospital to apologize. The police department shared a photo of the officer on the phone with Chesney.
“He apologized for last night and wants to take Chris out to a football game and grab some beers!! Thank you Kenny!!” the caption read.
Chesney confirmed the phone call with a Twitter post.
.@FolcroftPD He’s doing great. Told him we’d watch an Eagles game & have beers one day. Here’s to a speedy recovery! #dormanthedelcolegend
