Following the conclusion of their Wheels Up tour in October, country power-trio Lady Antebellum took a break from the road to spend some much-needed time with their families.

“That’s what this next season is for us — spending time with our families and really relishing in this successful year for us and focusing on where we’re headed next,” Lady A told CMT last fall.

Along with the joy of spending quality, uninterrupted time with family, one member of the group suffered a devastating loss during their hiatus.

In an interview with Good Morning America on Monday (June 20), Lady A’s leading lady Hillary Scott revealed that she suffered a miscarriage last year.

“Last fall, I went through a miscarriage,” she said. “This is something that is not talked about very often. I also feel like there’s this pressure that you’re supposed to be able to snap your fingers and continue to walk through life like it never happened.”

The 30-year old, already a mom to a 2-year old daughter, Eisele Kaye, found herself coping with the loss by putting pen to paper and voice to song. The first single off Scott’s new family gospel album, Love Remains (to be released July 29), was written by Scott at her lowest moment.

“I wrote the song in the middle of experiencing everything that comes with the miscarriage so it was my most raw place that I could’ve ever been when this song truly poured out of me,” she said of “Thy Will.”

Scott also admitted that the miscarriage changed the way she parents her 2-year old. “I’m a different mom to her now,” she said. “I hug her a lot tighter.”
