Taking to social media, Bryan confirmed these rumors, and thrilled his fans with the exciting announcement.
"I'm so excited and proud to announce that I will be one of the three judges on ABC's American Idol," he said in the video. "I will be joined with the beautiful Miss Katy Perry, and my hero Mr. Lionel Richie, and my fellow Georgia boy Ryan Seacrest. Can't wait to see you guys, can't wait to be part of the show, and I'm so excited to see all the talent out there that America has."
Before Friday (Sept. 29), the only confirmed judge was Perry, who is raking in a whopping $25 million, which didn't leave much of the budget for the other two coaches and retuning host Seacrest.
American Idol also took to Twitter to announce Bryan and Richie as judges.
TMZ reports that auditions begin on Tuesday (Oct. 3), and that Bryan and Richie signed on for around $13 million and $10 million, respectively.
