Miley Cyrus Sounds Different In Elvis-Inspired “Younger Now” Video

Following the 40th anniversary of the passing of the King of Rock and Roll in 2017, Miley Cyrus released an Elvis Presley-inspired video for her latest single, “Younger Now.”

Expertly balancing the country roots she was raised on with the psychedelic pop she has sung in the past, Miley paid homage to ’50s country and the people who made that period of music so great.

Even though it’s not who I am/ I’m not afraid of who I used to be,” Miley sings in a reflection of her past. “No one stays the same/ All that goes up must come down/ Change is a thing you can count on/ I feel so much younger now.”

The video kicks off with a melancholy Miley singing from bed, later transforming her appearance to match the King as the beat picks up pace. Donning an Elvis-esque hairstyle matched with a custom-made suit created by B&K Enterprises Costume Co. Inc. that resembles “Nudie” costumes of the past, Miley takes you on a journey through the past. While the music is vastly different from what fans have come to expect from the 24-year-old singer, Miley says she is simply embracing who she’s always been.

“There’s always a little twang in me, even if I’m makin psychedelic rock/pop! Country = story tellin!!!! ❤️???? Jonny, Elvis , Roy , Porter , George , Loretta , Kitty , Patsy ALL DAY LONG! (& of course my fairy godmother , Queen Dolly ! ) Just embracing what’s always been!” wrote Miley in an Instagram post.

Considering she is the daughter of country superstar Billy Ray Cyrus and goddaughter to the legendary Dolly Parton, it shouldn’t come as a surprise she’s tapping into her Nashville roots.
