Miranda Lambert Confesses That Her Next Album Is An ‘Emotional Journey’

With her new single, “Vice,” tearing up the charts, fans have been anxious to hear what else Miranda Lambert has been up to. “Vice” was her first single in a year, and she hasn’t released a new album since 2014’s Platinum. Needless to say, fans noticed Lambert’s silence, but now she’s ready to speak up again. 

Following her high-profile split from Blake Shelton, Lambert took a step back and dedicated herself to crafting new music. Now, that music is in the process of becoming a new album, which Lambert dished out new details about during a detailed interview with Billboard.

As of right now, Lambert’s upcoming album is untitled, but it is set for release some time before Christmas. Fans already know that “Vice” is the first single, but Lambert really doesn’t want to give anything away about the other songs, since the album is still a work in progress.  

However, Lambert does want to make one thing clear. She says that this upcoming project is not “a heartbreak album,” but rather, one that documents an entire “emotional journey.”

“Everybody has bad moments, and then you come out of it and you have a great moment, and then you have some somber times…But I don’t think anybody’s gonna listen to this new project and say, ‘Ohhh, it’s so sad.’ Yeah, there’s sad songs. But I’ve had sad songs on every record I’ve ever made. There’s also some good old classic country, and some rock ‘n’ roll, and my signature in a few songs.”

As for how much her personal life inspired the songs on her new album, including “Vice,” Lambert doesn’t try to hide the fact that they come from an honest place. 

“Every record I’ve ever made has been a reflection of where I am right then in my life, however old I am. And I’ve never held back at all,” she said.
