Miranda Lambert has been a busy woman lately, but that doesn’t mean she’s sacrificing time with her friends. Between headlining her own Keeper of the Flame Tour, joining pal Kenny Chesney on his Spread the Love Tour, and preparing for the release of her new single, “Vice,” Lambert hasn’t had much down time.
But Lambert decided to make the time for two of her best friends during a show in Arkansas on Friday (July 15), and you may recognize them.
Pistol Annies made their debut performance on April 4, 2011, and ignited the country music community with their two albums, Hell on Heels and Annie Up. Consisting of Lambert, Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley, the group cancelled all tour stops in June 2013 as the three of them went on to pursue their solo careers.
Although they haven’t made new music together in years, the three friends join forces every now and then to perform. Last year, they came together at one of Lambert’s tour stops to perform their hit songs, including “Hush Hush”
After nearly a year with no Pistol Annies reunion, the three of them shocked fans at Lambert’s Arkansas concert when they came together on stage for a fiery performance. Together, they sang “Hell on Heels” and “Takin’ Pills,” which both came off of the trio’s debut album Hell on Heels.
A fan-captured video from the surprise reunion shows the trio singing “Hell on Heels” and dancing with one another on stage. The crowd was beyond thrilled, and sang along to the song before erupting into cheers at the end of the performance.
If what Monroe has said in the past is any indication, this won’t be the last we’ll see of the Pistol Annies. In an interview back in November 2015, Monroe said that the trio’s small reunions have made them anxious to get back together and work on making new music.
“It’s definitely brewing,” she said, hinting toward a future collaboration. “We’ve been missing each other a lot…We have a lot of song ideas going. I feel like it’s soon.”
