Brace yourselves Nashville fans, because this latest network leak has some serious consequences to the show that you’ve come to know and love.
After getting cancelled by ABC and having to find a new home on CMT, the hit television drama, Nashville, is making headlines again with their hints at killing off one of the show’s favorite stars.
Rayna Jaymes is likely to get killed off about halfway through the 5th season because of some sinister plotting…not to mention that the woman playing her, Connie Britton is only scheduled for 10 episodes, but the details only get worse when a new report from reliable source, TV Guide, explains her fate.
The newest season (that almost didn’t happen) has been booked for a full 22 episodes to air on CMT and Hulu, but it seems as if Rayna won’t be making it through even half of those.
In the report by TV Guide, they explain that this new season will feature Rayna meeting a very wealthy internet app mogul who has massive dreams of taking her music to a whole new generation of fans…but says that he “has other, more nefarious plans for her.”
Looking at all the facts of the situation gives a grim outlook for Britton’s character and television shows are famous for killing off characters when their contract is up or they cannot finish renewal negotiations in time.
Entertainment Weekly reports that one of their “sources” says that the show is hopeful they can negotiate with Britton to get her into more episodes…but “sources” are often unreliable.
What do you think of Nashville killing off Rayna?
Do you want her to stay or do you think they should go through with it?
The new, 5th season of the hit show is officially set to premiere on January 5th, 2017 on CMT and episodes will be available the following day on Hulu.
