'Nashville' fans were heartbroken when ABC announced the cancellation of the show in May. The news broke just shy of the Season 4 finale and shocked fans as well as the show's cast.
“We literally found out that it got picked up [along with] the rest of the world, like same time, all online,” 'Nashville' star Lennon Stella told The Huffington Post during a recent interview with her sister Maisy. “We found out that it got canceled online ... we read it with the rest of the world.”
Sisters in real life and on-screen, Lennon and Maisy said that the crew gathered to say their goodbyes when the cancellation announcement was made.
“We did have a little cast meetup and it was so sad and we were all just playing music that we had done on the show,” Maisy said. “Everyone was just bawling. We had producers there and the writers. It was just amazing. But now that won’t be the last time that we’re all together, so that’s very good.”
“We’re so excited to get back shooting and get back with everyone,” Lennon added.
While 'Nashville has found a new home with CMT, there are still several roles up in the air as the cast anticipates their return to the set in August. It's been reported that all but two of the show's regulars will be returning. Rumor has it that Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples will be moving on...without 'Nashville.' But, we will just have to wait and see as Lennon and Maisy don't have any more information than the rest of the world has.
“We don’t know for sure, but that would be absolutely devastating,” Lennon told said of whether or not some of the cast members were leaving. “We hope that doesn’t happen.”
