Virginia “Ginny” McCoy, mother of country singer Neal McCoy, has passed away.
Neal shared the news on Facebook late Monday night saying, “Our mom just went to Heaven. Thank you so much for all the prayers and thoughts. Don’t grieve for us, Mom is in Great Place!!!!!”
In an interview with Country Rebel in 2016, the “No Doubt About It” singer credited his mother for his unwavering patriotism. Ginny, who was a Filipina American, instilled a pride and love for America in her children that McCoy continues to promote daily. 775 days ago, Neal started a tradition of saying the Pledge of Allegiance live on Facebook daily, something that he said made his mother proud.
McCoy dedicated Tuesday morning’s (February 20) pledge to his mother saying, “This is for mom. She loved the pledge. She is the one responsible for putting the patriotism in us. When we were kids she’d tell us ‘Be grateful for where you live because no other country is quite like the one you live in.’ I believe in our country because of my mother. When I started [saying the pledge] it was a big deal for her.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Neal McCoy and his family during this difficult time.
