Nicole Kidman Finally Explains Bizarre Clapping At Oscars

Nicole Kidman Finally Explains Bizarre Clapping At Oscars | Country Music Videos

After a video went viral on social media during the 2017 Academy Awards that showed the cherished actress clapping in an extremely odd way, many people were left wondering exactly what was going on.

Nicole Kidman, wife of country music superstar and fellow Aussie native, Keith Urban, was in attendance decked out in a cascade of jewels and sparkling accents that glimmered as she walked the red carpet.

As the awards show progressed, folks at home saw fellow celebrities applauding the winners of various categories, but they also spotted something they were not expecting: Nicole Kidman clapping in a way that raised more than a few eyebrows.

Below is a clip of what the clapping phenomenon looked like and her hands appear extremely long, but that’s more likely a camera distortion effect than reality.

But, what exactly was happening? And why was she clapping in that way?

In a recent interview with beloved Australian radio show, Kyle & Jackie O, Kidman reveals exactly why that happened – and how it felt to be doing it!

“It was really awkward,” Kidman confessed. “I was like, ‘I wanna clap, I don’t wanna not be clapping.’ That’d be worse, right? Like, ‘Why isn’t Nicole clapping?'”

The reason, she says, that she was clapping that way is because she was decked out in fancy, incredibly expensive jewelry – and she was afraid of ruining it!

“So therefore I’m clapping but it was really difficult because I had a huge ring on that was not mine — but it was absolutely gorgeous — and I was terrified of damaging it.”

Many people believed it was because she may have just had her nails done before the performance, but that just simply wasn’t the case!
