In 2005, an airplane carrying 109 people slammed into the ground and burst into flames at a Nigerian airport. Miraculously, two people survived the horrific crash and one of those survivors is taking her message of hope and perseverance to the America’s Got Talent stage.

In a leaked clip posted to YouTube, crash survivor Kechi Okwuchi shares her story and her incredible voice with AGT. Kechi, who is covered in scars as a result of the plane crash, told judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel that she was one of the only two survivors of a plane crash that took place in Nigeria several years ago.

“Lying in the hospital bed, bandaged head to foot, not being able to move or do anything else, music was my escape. That’s why music means so much to me,” Kechi said.

The vocalist then began to sing her rendition of Ed Sheeran’s hit “Thinking Out Loud.” The audience began to cheer, but the judges remained skeptical. But, as the song progressed, Kechi won over the judges even bringing Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel to their feet.

The preview ends before we find out if Kechi moves on to the next round, but if the preview is any indication, this isn’t the last we’ll see of the star in the making.

Tune in to America’s Got Talent on NBC Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST to see if Kechi moves on.
