Reba Chokes Back Tears Over These Powerful Words

Just days ahead of the Grammy Awards where she is nominated for her first gospel album, this beloved country megastar gets choked up talking about her favorite Bible verse she keeps with her at all times.

In a series posted to social media site, Twitter, Reba McEntire was taking questions from fans and responding to them with videos of her answering them. The segment, titled “#GRAMMYsAskReba” took place on the site for a few hours and Reba answered as many questions as she could.

One question, brought up by user Anna Kolodziejcyk, she tweeted asking Reba “What is your go to Bible verse in times when you feel happy or sad?” 

Posting a quick video reply to Anna, Reba was excited to answer the question. “Hey Anna! You wanted to know what’s my most favorite Bible verse. I got a lot of them! You know, The Golden Rule, treat people like you want to be treated.”

Reaching into her purse, Reba pulled out a small folded strip of paper and explained to the people watching that she carries this one, specific Bible verse with her everywhere she goes.

“This is what I carry around with me, in my purse all the time. It’s Proverbs 3:5-6,” She continued. “With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment. Always let Him lead you and He will clear the road for you to follow.”

You can hear Reba fighting the urge to cry and getting all choked up as she was reading the verse. Clearly, it means a great deal to her and has had a hefty impact on her life.

“See, when I read that I get all choked up – so I know it’s really touching my heart. That’s pretty powerful. Trust Him and He will lead the way.”

Reba McEntire’s first gospel album, Sing It Now: Songs Of Faith & Hope, has been nominated for a Grammy Award at the 60th annual awards show. It will be up for the Best Roots Gospel Album award.
