When Joey + Rory welcomed their baby girl Indiana on February 17, 2014, they were overwhelmed with sheer joy. But that joy turned to concern shortly after Indy's birth.
Joey + Rory learned that their little girl had Down Syndrome. While the news certainly came as a shock at the time, the two were determined to tackle any challenges that life would through their way...or Indy's.
But the couple never could have prepared themselves for Joey's cancer diagnosis. Before she learned about her cancer, Joey had always intended to home school Indy so that she could get all of the personal attention she needed and deserved. As she neared her final days, Joey helped Rory pick out a school for Indy to attend, knowing that they would take good care of her there.
Rory has written about Indy's school High Hopes in some of his blog posts. In addition to her education, Indy also receives physical therapy sessions at the school, and they have worked wonders.
As much progress as Indy has made, there was one thing that was still weighing heavy on Rory's mind. It turns out that little Indy has a hole in her heart, and she has to go in for regular checkups to monitor it.
On Monday (April 3), Rory shared an update on Indy's heart checkup they had that day. Miraculously, Rory said that the checkup showed the hole in Indy's heart is starting to close!
"Thank God," Rory wrote in the caption to his photo.
Now that's good news! We're happy to hear that the heart in Indy's heart is closing. We'll continue to keep her and Rory in our prayers.
