Sadie Robertson is not only known for being a member of the famous Duck Dynasty clan, but also for using her celebrity status to give back. Over the years, Robertson has helped build a village in Peru for children rescued from trafficking, delivered hundreds of pairs of boots to needy children in Guatamala, and helped those in need in the Dominican Republic.
Just last week Robertson spent four days in Somalia. In a post made to Instagram, Sadie shared that the trip “was like no other. 4 days of Love • Connection • Friendship • Passion • Hope.” But, just one hour after Robertson’s plane left the Somalian capital of Mogadishu on Saturday, the city was rocked by the worst attack in its history. A double truck bombing left more than 270 dead and more than 300 injured.
The attack took place less than one half mile from the hotel where Sadie had been staying. As you can imagine, the tragedy shook Robertson and she took to social media to plead for prayer for her new friends.
“The whole city shook and the whole city is shaken. The area at this point is unrecognizable. These new friends of mine are passionate, hopeful, hardworking, beautiful, loving, and human just like you. They have been through more in life than many of us can understand, but stronger then many of us will ever be. Today they were hit again. Hard,” Robertson wrote. “Please pray. My heart is broken.”
Our prayers are with Sadie Robertson and the people of Somalia.
