The moment that all Scotty McCreery fans have been waiting for is finally here!
Nearly a year ago, McCreery's life changed forever when he performed his new song, "Five More Minutes" during his set at the Grand Ole Opry. As McCreery explained prior to his performance, he felt inspired to write "Five More Minutes" after the death of his grandfather.
McCreery's emotional performance sent the Opry audience to their feet, with one attendee noting, "the standing ovation was the longest and most passionate I have ever seen at the Opry."
The Opry later shared a video of McCreery's performance, which has generated well over two million views in less than a year's time. This is all the more remarkable considering the fact that "Five More Minutes" has never been released as a single. Well that is, until now.
Ever since McCreery's Opry performance went viral, country music fans have made it known that they want "Five More Minutes" to be his next single. Now, their wish is about to come true, as McCreery confirmed on Monday (May 1).
McCreery announced the news on social media, and shared the cover art for his new single as well. As he revealed, "Five More Minutes" will make its official debut on May 5. We think that's an appropriate date to release the song, don't you?
"Well it's about time..."McCreery wrote. "Releasing #FiveMoreMinutes to y'all this Friday!"
Knowing how much work he put into "Five More Minutes," we're so happy for McCreery that he finally gets to share it with the world. Since his Opry performance has done so well on YouTube, we have faith that "Five More Minutes" will do well on the charts too.
Go ahead and tune in below to watch the performance that started it all for McCreery. We wish him the best of luck as he prepares to release "Five More Minutes!"
