Scotty McCreery Nervously Performs “Forever and Ever, Amen” While Randy Travis Looks On

Scotty McCreery experienced what he called “one of the coolest moments of my career” Friday night (January 27). Just moments before taking the stage at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, Texas, legendary country artist Randy Travis surprised McCreery by showing up at his bus.

“My tour manager says, ‘Hey, Scotty come here,’ so I walk up to the front of the bus, look out the window, and who is standing outside my door?! RANDY TRAVIS!!! He, his wife Mary and his family decided to ride over to the show and surprise me!” McCreery wrote on Facebook.

Randy and Mary stayed for McCreery’s entire concert and sat just to the right of the stage. McCreery wrote that Randy’s appearance at the show was “a God Thing.” The American Idol champ and his band worked up Travis’s 1987 hit “Forever and Ever, Amen” five year ago, but never played it live….until now. Friday night’s concert was the first time McCreery included the Grammy Award-winning song on his set list and had the honor of performing of for the man who first made the song famous…Randy Travis.

According to Scotty, Randy smiled, danced and sang along. We don’t blame him! A fan posted a clip of Scotty’s performance and we think he did a fantastic job despite the pressure of singing in front of Randy Travis.
