The country music community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Lisa McKay, WQDR-FM Program Director and Vice President of Curtis Media Group. McKay passed away on Sunday (January 14) after a brief battle with cancer.

“It is with very heavy hearts that we share the news of Lisa’s passing,” Curtis Media Group President Trip Savery said. “She had a tremendous and positive impact on so many people’s lives and careers and will be greatly missed by all of us.”

WQDR is a country music station located in Raleigh, North Carolina, and McKay became a friend to many country stars during her career. American Idol champ Scotty McCreery, a North Carolina native, paid tribute to McKay, saying that she played a huge role in his career and will be remembered for her kindness and for believing in the singer when others didn’t.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lisa McKay’s loved ones during this time.

For anyone wishing to honor Lisa, her family asks that you make a donation to a local animal shelter in her honor.
