If anyone could be named as an American icon, it's Gene Autry. Known as "The Singing Cowboy," Autry charmed his way into countless hearts through his various radio, television, and movie appearances.
Whenever you think of Western films and music, Autry's name is likely the first to come to mind. With millions of fans, Autry exposed a greater audience to country and Western music than ever before.
In 1942, Autry starred in a film called Stardust on the Sage, during which he had the chance to really show off his talent as a singer. During the film, he performed a medley of some of the most-beloved Western songs to ever exist, including "You Are My Sunshine," "Home on the Range," and "Deep in the Heart of Texas."
We happened to uncover some footage of Autry singing the medley, and it instantly transported us back to the good ole days. Autry always had the power to draw you in to anything he was singing, and this medley is no exception.
