Soulful Country Singer Drops Jaws With ‘You Are My Sunshine’ Blind Audition Performance

The Voice/YouTube

Ashland Craft. Remember that name. The South Carolina native may very well be the one to beat during Season 13 of ‘The Voice.’ Craft stunned the ‘Voice’ judges and the audience with her soulful rendition of the 1939 classic ‘You Are My Sunshine’ during night two of the show’s blind auditions (September 26).

Only seconds into her performance, Craft got a chair turn from coach Blake Shelton. Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine followed suit just moments later. As Craft sang, Blake and Miley bantered, knowing that the 21-year old singer would most likely pick one of them to be her coach because of their country music background.

“Blake, he really is the king of country, that’s for sure. But, they need a queen and I would hope that would be me,” Miley said to Craft following her performance. “I’m back and more rooted and grounded than I’ve ever been in my life. I want us to be this power team of these two females who aren’t afraid of being the punk rock Dolly Parton.”

Adam Levine argued that Craft should pick him because they’re “so wrong it could only be right.”

“I think it’s important to recognize the traditional sound that you have. There hasn’t been a voice like yours on country radio since Gretchen Wilson. There’s a total open lane for you right now,” Blake said as he tried to win Craft over.

But, it was Miley who eventually won over Ashland Craft and added her to Team Miley. Watch Ashland’s jaw-dropping performance of “You Are My Sunshine” in the video below.
