The family of Steve Wariner was hit with the devastating news that his father, Roy Monroe Wariner, had passed away this past Friday (July 7).
Shortly after his father's passing, the country singer shared with his fans that he "died peacefully" in Jamestown, Kentucky at age 88. At the time of his passing, Roy was living at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home according to the elder Wariner's obituary.
“Thank you all so very much for your prayers, kindness and condolences. It is very much appreciated,” Wariner writes. “He was certainly my hero and inspiration and will forever be missed.”
His funeral is scheduled for tomorrow (July 11) at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel in Russel Springs, Kentucky before being buried at Jamestown Cemetery with full military honors.
Roy was born August 21, 1928 in Champaign, Illinois. Throughout his long life, he served in the U.S Navy before transitioning into being a music teacher. He and his wife Ilene had six children together: Steve, Larry, Kenny, David, Terry, and Barbara.
