If you’ve been keeping up with the news, then you know that Louisiana has been hit hard by devastating floods. The Red Cross stated that the floods are the worst natural disaster the state has experienced since Hurricane Sandy four years ago.

Thousands of people have lost their homes and belongings in the flood waters. 13 others lost their lives as a result of the floods, according to The Chicago Tribune. The Tribune also states that an estimated 60,000 homes have been damaged and 102,000 individuals have registered for federal assistance.

Now that the flood waters are receding, some people are returning to find their homes in a state of destruction. But in other areas the flood waters are still too high for people to be able to return to their homes.

Many celebrities who are from Louisiana have reached out to fans on social media to ask for prayers and help in the relief effort. The Duck Dynasty cast has been especially active in asking fans for their help, since they live in Louisiana.

One country star who has strong ties to Louisiana is Tim McGraw, who was born in the small town of Delhi. In passionate plea to fans, McGraw shared a video message on social media asking them to pitch in and help the relief effort.

Please join the relief effort by donating to many worthwhile causes,” McGraw said in the short video, which was shot in black and white and ended with a message reading “Love and support Louisiana.”

As McGraw said, there are many organizations and causes you can donate to in order to help the relief effort in Louisiana. If you’d like to donate to the state’s Red Cross, which is providing food and shelter to those displaced because of the floods, you can text the word LAFLOODS to 90999 to make a donation of $10.

There is also a GoFundMe campaign set up by an educator in Louisiana who hopes to raise funds in order to make toiletry care packages, cover transportation costs, and purchase other materials that people need. The campaign has raised nearly $33,000 as of press time. You can donate to the campaign by following the link here.

If you’d like to check out other organizations that you can donate to or volunteer for, CNN has a list here.

Like McGraw and so many others, we’re keeping the people of Louisiana in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
